Digital media agency E3 and sister publishing company Wildfire Communications have partnered with the BBC to launch a new website which will support up and coming comedy talent. The two Bristol agencies, both part of the E3 Media Group, successfully pitched for one of the largest digital projects the BBC has commissioned over the past 12 months.
The new site, which is called Soup, will provide a high-profile platform for aspiring comedians to present their own audio and video sketches. Contributors will be ‘challenged’ to create content that links in with existing BBC TV comedy shows and all published material can be rated by internet users. As well as being able to create their own online profile for talent spotters, both amateur and professional comics will be able to interact with one another and have access to a multimedia archive of BBC content to help them improve the quality of their work and showcase this to a wider community, including BBC producers. The Soup website is now nearing completion and will be unveiled by the BBC in March.
