Channel 4 and IWC Media are now looking for writers and directors for the 2005 season of COMING UP.

COMING UP is the o­nly talent scheme currently in the UK where new writers and directors have the opportunity to make an original film with a guaranteed network broadcast.  Now in its fifth year Channel 4 continues its commitment to innovation, experimentation and new authorship and with the added partnership of Skillset, 2005 promises to be our most ambitious season yet.

Our aim is to make 8 challenging and individual films from the best new talent. We'll be looking for strong ideas and voices, originality, boldness and wit.

Each film must:

• push boundaries in a way that wouldn't/couldn't be done in mainstream drama
• be largely, but not exclusively, young and urban
• be contemporary
• be shot in 4 days o­n a limited budget, so aim for a maximum of 4 locations and 4-6 speaking parts

This is not an entry-level scheme.  If you are building a track record and have a commitment to forging a career in film and television we want to hear from you.

The successful writers will work closely with a producer, who will guide them through the process of taking an idea from treatment to script to screen.  The directors will be supported not o­nly by the producer, but will also receive guidance from masterclasses from industry experts.

Submissions from multi-cultural and regionally-based filmmakers are encouraged. The slot length is 30 minutes; each film will be shot in a week, o­n DV in and around London.  Successful applicants will receive a fee of £3,000 for directors and writers £2,000 for completed scripts.

The scheme is open to any writer or director without a primetime TV drama credit (i.e. any drama transmitted o­n a terrestrial channel between 7 - 11pm)
